iOS 16.3.1 Fix Dangerous Bug But Make Google Photos Error

Apple has just released the iOS 16.3.1 update for iPhones. This minor update brings fixes for dangerous bugs exploited by hackers, but on the other hand some users are complaining about Google Photos crashing after the iOS 16.3.1 update.

iOS 16.3.1 was released just two weeks after iOS 16.3 was rolled out. This update rolls out alongside iPadOS 16.3.1 for the iPad, and watchOS 9.3.1 for the Apple Watch.

The iOS 16.3.1 update brings several bug fixes and addresses issues with iCloud, Siri, and Crash Detection. The fix for the iCloud issue seems to have been released to address complaints from users who cannot activate automatic iCloud backups on iPhones and iPads.

Apart from that, Apple has also optimized the Crash Detection system on the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro. As is known, this new feature has had several problems because it suddenly calls 911 when the user is on a rollercoaster, skiing, and other activities that have the potential to trigger Crash Detection.

The iOS 16.3.1 update also fixes a dangerous bug exploited by hackers. This bug was found in WebKit, the browser engine used by Safari and is a popular target among hackers because it can open access to more data on the device, as quoted from ArsTechnica, Tuesday (14/2/2023).

On the other hand, iPhone users who have updated to iOS 16.3.1 complain that they cannot access Google Photos. So iPhone and iPad users who frequently use Google Photos should postpone updating to iOS 16.3.1.

Some iPhone users express their complaints on social media. Most say the Google Photos application on the iPhone and iPad keeps crashing when opened so that users have difficulty accessing their photos.

It is not yet known what caused the problem and when a fix will be released. Whether this problem requires a special update for the Google Photos application is also unknown.
