Generative Pre-trained Transformer or GPT is an artificial intelligence system that requires the user to enter a simple text and receive a long and full of context feedback as if chatting with a human.
The popularity of GPT is so great that it is widely used in various systems such as DALL.E for text-based graphics generation or the latest Bing search engine with GPT system that provides up-to-date data.
Recently, the old AI model GPT-2 is used to generate new game levels so that one game will never be finished because users can enter text to generate new ones with various challenges or easy-to-win levels.
This system is MarioGPT, which can generate new levels endlessly and allows players to play Mario games until any time. As with the DALL.E system, the user only needs to enter detailed text about the desired game level such as “more pipes, more enemies, fewer blocks and lower elevation angles”.
Although it looks interesting, MarioGPT cannot be a full Mario game because the enemies that can be generated are limited to only one be it Goombas, Koopas or other that can be changed. One of the reasons for this limitation may be due to the old use of GPT-2 and can only train AI with light data. But the developers have plans to update with the latest GPT or with a larger data set.
The system behind MarioGPT is also not limited to Mario games only and can also be used in other games such as Sonic. What would you say if this game with AI generated levels was commercially marketed so you could play endlessly?
