The company behind Facebook and Instagram, namely Meta, has already introduced Meta Verified earlier this week. Through it, it allows users to subscribe to a paid plan that provides a blue check mark to indicate that it is verified on the profile, in addition to offering features such as customer service support and several others.
However, it also comes with some limitations for now.
Through Meta's official partnership, they state that Meta Verified only supports accounts with real names for now.
In addition, after a profile is verified with Meta Verified, users cannot change the profile name, username, date of birth, or profile picture. If changed, then the user will go through the Meta Verified verification and subscription process again.
This may not be liked by many who often change their profile picture from time to time.
However, this may be a constraint in the early stages of this service offering. Meta Verified is currently offered in Australia and New Zealand only.
