Microsoft Disbands Industry Metamesta Team

Is the future of HoloLens fading? The answer may be yes after the Industrial Metaverse Core Team that was established in October last year was completely disbanded. About 100 employees tasked with developing the metacity project for industrial use have been laid off under Microsoft's job reduction program announced a few weeks ago.

The Industrial Metaverse Core Team is involved in providing support to clients such as Coco Cola, Unilever and General Motors. Although this entire team has been disbanded, Microsoft says they are still committed to developing metacity for industrial use, but the focus is now on areas where it is needed more.

Microsoft has ended support for HoloLens 2 for public use and is only offering it to industry and the military. There is no word on the development of the new headset with many employees involved with HoloLens reportedly being laid off. This morning's news comes with the news that Meta may be laying off more employees as it also affects those involved in the metamesta platform.
