NASA Uses Artificial Intelligence To Design Spacecraft Components

There is no doubt that today the use of services powered by artificial intelligence is becoming a trend and I feel this trend will not stop and become saturated because the services offered are really beneficial.

We can now generate information by just entering simple text into ChatGPT or providing simple text to generate realistic graphics using DALL.E 2. Now NASA is also joining this trend by using artificial intelligence to generate spare part designs for rockets.

The resulting design looks futuristic and strange like alien technology in a science fiction movie. Although the design of this spare part uses artificial intelligence, NASA designers still need to monitor it to ensure that the design produced is accurate and according to specifications.

These parts are designed and produced in a week which is much faster than traditional methods. Interestingly, after NASA tested this spare part with special software, they stated that the pressure test found that this strange design has a stress factor 10 times lower than the man-made design.

This spare part is said to be a scaffolding for the rocket and the mass of this design is lighter but at the same time remains strong. Indirectly this can reduce the problem of raw material waste and waste.

This designed titanium component will be used on the EXoplanet Climate Infrared TElescope (EXCITE) mission. This scaffolding will be used to connect the infrared sensor inside the cryogenic aluminum case which is also connected to the carbon fiber plate that houses the telescope's main mirror.
