Netflix Expands Feature To Block Password Sharing To Four More Countries

If you're a Netflix subscriber in Canada, New Zealand, Portugal and Spain the era of password sharing is now over. Netflix expanded the feature of adding profiles to accounts for users who do not live at the same address in the above four countries after previously introducing it in several Latin American countries.

Customers can add two more profiles to each account with a fee of CAD$7.99 (RM26) per month for one profile. This step is taken to avoid the practice of password sharing which is believed to be done by around 100 million accounts now.

With the introduction of the add profile feature, say goodbye too to the practice of sharing accounts with siblings, parents, lovers and colleagues. Netflix confirmed that this feature will be expanded to other countries in the next few months.

Password sharing caused Netflix losses. But judging by the reaction of existing customers, the introduction of this feature to prevent password sharing will also cause customers to cancel their subscriptions in protest.
