Nvidia CEO and founder Jensen Huang praised ChatGPT and called the chatbot like an iPhone in the world of artificial intelligence (AI).
Huang said this compliment while speaking as a guest lecturer at Berkeley Haas University. He called ChatGPT the greatest thing ever in the computer industry.
When asked about ChatGPT by a student, Huang said that many people started using the chatbot made by OpenAI in a short time, reaching 100 million people and making ChatGPT the fastest growing consumer application.
"When was the last time we saw an all-in-one technology that could solve problems and surprise people in so many ways? It could write poetry of course, it could populate spreadsheets, it could write SQL queries and perform SQL queries, it could write python code, it could write Verilog, Huang said.
"And just so you know, if it can't do it now, sure, it will be able to do it one day. This is the iPhone moment for artificial intelligence," he added.
Huang also explained how the ChatGPT application programming interface can be connected to spreadsheets, Power Point, photo processing or drawing programs, and many more, to enhance its capabilities.
"It's like when a browser was created and someone overnight created JavaScript and you have a website that surprises you. Or when the first iPhone was released and someone wrote a program for two weeks and then the software can be downloaded from the app store," Huang explained.
He also praised ChatGPT's ability to write code for software, which he said could change everything. "Anyone really can make a computer program. We have democratized computers in a big way," he continued.
