OpenAI Shares What's Next for AI? AGI – Artificial Intelligence Smarter Than Humans

OpenAI today is ready to steal the attention of many through the use of artificial intelligence technology in the generation of images using Dall-E, in addition to communicating and responding through ChatGPT. Some of these artificial intelligence-powered offerings are ready to help with various human tasks today.

In addition to that offering, OpenAI seems to be making strides to the next generation. Recently, OpenAI also shared briefly about their plans for the future, and the next evolution is called AGI (Artificial General Intelligence).

AGI is said to be an artificial intelligence system that is generally smarter or equal to humans. But with the application of technology and access to various data, it will make it smarter and smarter than ordinary humans.

OpenAI says AGI has the potential to provide humans with a range of abilities, including a world that provides access to assistance for various tasks – while increasing human creativity. AGI also, if successfully developed, can help humans to the next level, in terms of the global economy, the discovery of new scientific knowledge, as well as various new abilities.

However, due to its diverse and high abilities, at the same time AGI may also bring risks in terms of abuse, as well as social disruption.

OpenAI shares that it will make this transition to AGI in stages, based on various inputs from real-world users. Besides that, they themselves will make various changes and optimizations to artificial intelligence and machine learning from time to time based on the input and also how this AGI develops.

OpenAI also believes that they will assess various risks in moving forward – not to mention that artificial intelligence is often depicted in fiction that may lead to the destruction and extinction of humans.

At this stage, we can see that this is still in the initial phase and it is not fully known regarding how AGI will impact human life. Before this we have heard rumors stating that Google has developed artificial intelligence that reaches the level of human intelligence - which was later denied by Google.
