Pastor Try ChatGPT to Write a Sermon, What's the Result?

What if writing sermons for congregation in the church, written with the help of ChatGPT? Some priests apparently have tried it. What do they think?

In general, ChatGPT is capable of writing pretty good sermons. However, on the other hand, they were judged unable to imitate the passion of the sermon written by the pastor. "The writing lacks soul. I don't know how to say it," said Hershael York, a pastor in Kentucky.

As quoted by us from the New York Post, a sermon at the church is usually held once a week as one of the core services. According to York, religious leaders who are lazy may be tempted to use ChatGPT, but not for those who really like to preach and love their congregation.

On the other hand, a rabbi in New York, Joshua Franklin, actually preaches with a 1,000 word script compiled by ChatGPT. The congregation seemed to like it, then were shocked when they were told that it was all written down by ChatGPT.

"I'm so worried you guys are applauding. I think truckers will outlast the rabbi in terms of losing our ground to artificial intelligence," he said. However, according to him, AI has weaknesses where it lacks compassion and love, and is unable to build relationships.

Rachael Keefe, a minister in Minneapolis, tried a similar experiment by posting ChatGPT's script on her website.

"Even if the facts are true, something is missing. AI cannot understand community and inclusivity," he said. The congregation responded and agreed.

"ChatGPT isn't bad yes I agree. But feels generic and a bit sinister. I like your writing much more. It comes from a real living being, with a great brain and a loving heart," wrote one congregation.
