Sony has long been said to be releasing a new PlayStation 5 (PS5) variant, and reportedly the launch will occur in 2023.
This assumption arises because the current PS5 has been on sale since more than two years ago. If you look at its history, Sony usually releases new console variants after more than two years.
For example, the PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro were released three years after the PS4 was three years old. The launch of the Slim and Pro versions of the consoles took place in September 2016. So, that's why there is a guess that Sony will release a new variant of the PS5 in September 2023.
A source quoted by Gizmochina, Tuesday (21/2/2023) Sony plans to release the PS5 Pro in 2023. The source said that this Pro variant will have higher performance because the specs are also faster.
For example, the new APU chip from AMD with the RDNA 3 architecture, which will be faster, and the design may undergo changes. In addition, the cooling system is said to be more sophisticated, namely using a water cooling system.
Perhaps this step was taken by Sony because a number of users had previously complained about the cooling system for the PS5. That is, the liquid metal used as thermal paste is said to have leaked which damaged the cooling system.
There are also those who say that the PS5 Pro will have a disk drive that uses a USB-C connection so that it can be removed and installed. The existence of this disk drive is said to make the PS5 Pro's design sleeker but still maintain the disk drive function for gamers who prefer to buy games in physical form.
Oh yes, the PS5 Pro's internal storage is reportedly much larger than the regular PS5, which is only 825GB, which has increased to 2TB, which means gamers can store even more games. If so, it's the right move for Sony, especially given the sheer volume of current AAA games.
There are also new accessories for the PS5 Pro, namely the TWS Project Nomad wireless earphones and the Voyager wireless headset, which may be released simultaneously.
