Poor, Stressed Bird Colored Pink and Saved by NGOs

The English king pigeon (king pigeon) was saved from his unfortunate fate. She was under great stress from being dyed and badly cared for. The bird is named 'Flamingo' because of its pink body color.

Discovered by the Wild Bird Fund, the king dove was dyed with hair dye after research. No one knows why the bird is coloured, but it is believed the trend of 'gender reveal' or parties to find out the sex of the unborn baby is the reason behind it.

"After giving it time to stabilize, our team tried several methods of removing the dye, which we believe is hair dye, with limited success," they wrote on Facebook.

"One problem is the dye has a very strong odor, and we are concerned about the respiratory health of birds. Birds are very sensitive to certain odors," he continued.

When found, the bird was not in good condition. He was malnourished, stressed by the markings on his coat, and appeared to be being sold as a pet on purpose. Now, Flamingo is in the stage of recovery. When he feels completely healthy, Flamingo will join his friends at the sanctuary.

Reflecting on the Flamingo case which had the bad luck of being colored, the Wild Bird Fund emphasized the danger of doing this to animals. It is also categorized as cruelty to animals as reported by IFL Science, Tuesday (7/2/2023).

"Please, celebrate life's achievements in peace without hurting others," emphasized the Wild Bird Fund.
