Realme Is Still In Discussions To Develop Realme UI Without OS Color Code

Realme two days ago has launched Realme 10 4G for the local market. The device is a basic mid-range smartphone that focuses on premium. The chip used is Helio G99, 90Hz AMOLED screen, 50MP camera, 5000mAh battery with 33W fast charging and runs Realme UI 3.0 based on Android 12.

After the launch event, I interviewed Michelle Tiong who is Realme's product manager. I asked him why the Realme 10 4G device does not have an ultra-wide-angle camera sensor when competing devices in the same class already provide it. He answered, this device is already focused on gaming and to sell at the price of RM999 - the camera sensor should be removed.

Not only that, I also asked questions about the development behind Realme UI. As everyone knows, Realme UI is built based on Oppo's Color OS code – so the interface, features and functions are more or less the same. But previously they had stated that they would develop their own operating system closer to the original Android – but canceled and remained with the Color OS code.

Although Realme is already operating independently, Realme UI still has Color OS DNA from Oppo. According to Michelle, Realme is still in discussions to develop its own operating system completely independent 100% from Oppo. Just no promises yet, when this will become a reality. If you want a native Android-like experience, Realme UI and Color OS already implement many of these features. Maybe Realme wants to follow the strategy of OnePlus, using the same code base so that the distribution of updates is faster.
