Samsung and LG are getting ready to produce hybrid OLED for the iPad

The upcoming 2024 iPad Pro is said to adopt an OLED panel, and the panel is reportedly being prepared by Samsung and LG.

The two South Korean companies are said to be preparing for mass production of OLED panels, specifically the hybrid OLED panel that Apple will use in the 2024 iPad Pro.

Compared to regular OLED panels, this hybrid OLED panel is less prone to crumpling problems, or distortion phenomena that often occur in large OLED panels. This crumpling problem is why Apple hasn't adopted OLED panels in the iPad Pro lineup.

Apart from using an OLED panel, the 2024 iPad Pro will also have a change, namely a larger screen size. That is up to 11.1 inches for the 11 inch variant and up to 13 inches for the 12.9 inch variant.

According to Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, the 2024 iPad Pro will also have a different design. Like thinner bezels and a larger Apple logo to accommodate the MagSafe feature on the back of the iPad.

As is known, when all iPads still use LED panels. There is only one iPad variant that uses a more sophisticated LED panel. Namely the 12.9 inch iPad Pro which uses a mini-LED panel.

Even though many tablet manufacturers have now switched to OLED panels, which can produce the deepest black colors, as well as a more capable level of contrast. Meanwhile, mini-LED panels cannot always provide a deep black color because the lighting is done per zone, not per pixel as is the case with OLED panels.

The use of LED panels is said to still last in 2023, because Apple is said to be focusing on its mixed reality headset this year, we were quoted as saying from Phone Arena, Friday (10/2/2023).
