Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 Cancels Having S Pen Slot

It was rumored that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 will come with a special slot for the S Pen. However, the latest news states that Samsung has canceled the plan.

This news came from South Korean media ET News which claimed that Samsung was indeed developing this feature, but ultimately decided not to include the S Pen slot on the Galaxy Z Fold 5.

ET News reports that the Galaxy Z Fold 5 will not be equipped with an S Pen slot due to considerations of its design and the effect on internal space. Specifically, ET News said the S Pen slot could make the Galaxy Z Fold 5 thicker.

"The hinge structure of the latest foldable products has changed and the internal space structure has also changed, making it more difficult to mount the S Pen," a source told ET News, as quoted by Android Authority, Wednesday (22/2/2023).

Samsung reportedly considered designing the S Pen with a thinner design. But it is feared that this solution could worsen the writing experience using the S Pen.

Even so, Samsung is reportedly developing an S Pen with a thinner design and won't affect the writing experience. However, this new S Pen model is unlikely to be ready in time for the launch of the Galaxy Z Fold 5.

Apart from the Galaxy Z Fold 5, rumors about its sibling Galaxy Z Flip 5 have also started to appear. Reportedly, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 will have a larger external screen.

Tipster Ice Universe says the Galaxy Z Flip 5 will have a second screen that is larger in size than the Oppo Find N2 Flip's external screen. As is known, the Oppo Find N2 Flip has an external screen measuring 3.26 inches which is almost twice as large as the second screen of the Galaxy Z Flip 4.

Of course all this information is just a rumor that has not been confirmed by Samsung. The Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 are likely to be unveiled at the next Galaxy Unpacked event in August.
