Last year was a happy year for fans of Snapdragon chips and Samsung devices in Malaysia. For the first time in a long time, Galaxy S series devices are offered with only Snapdragon chips and no longer the less popular Exynos. In the European market where the Exynos 2200 chip is used, various issues are reported. This week we met with Dr. TM Roh who is the CEO of Samsung Mobile mobile devices.
In a round table session held with journalists from ASEAN, he confirmed that Samsung has not yet made a final decision to continue using Snapdragon chips or return to Exynos chips on their flagship devices in this market. This is because the performance of the chips produced by Qualcomm and Exynos is constantly scrutinized every year.
The final decision on the use of the chip in a particular market will only be made after the performance of the chip has been fully tested. He stressed that decisions will be taken based on what is best for consumers. With Samsung successfully expanding their device production in Southeast Asia in 2022, this may be a sign that consumers in the region are more interested in Snapdragon chips. For Exynos fans, a special chip for the Galaxy sedan is being developed and it will arrive by 2025.
