The population in Japan continues to age, as birth rates are low and people are increasingly reluctant to marry. In fact, it is suspected that the sex recession is becoming more rampant, where there are many single people there. Even in marriage, sometimes there is no intimate relationship.
A Japanese citizen named Mariko is worried about his friend's sex life. "She wants to have a baby, but she and her husband have never had contact. Her husband likes video games, he is not interested in sex," she said as quoted by us from the South China Morning Post, Tuesday (21/2/2023).
Mariko herself is still single, even though she actually wants to get married and have children. Those who live it are not a few in the State of Sakura. Romantic relationships in Japan are declining and the population is aging the fastest of any industrialized nation.
"About 25% of Japan's youth today will probably remain single and unmarried for the rest of their lives," said Masahiro Yamada, professor at Chuo University.
The phenomenon is sometimes dubbed a sex recession. Look at Shota Suzuki, a worker in Tokyo. After work, he likes to hang out with his friends. He is 28 years old, but he has never been in a relationship and he is also pessimistic.
"Yes, I'm a virgin. I really want to get married, but I can't find a partner. I don't have enough money to get married, only enough for myself," he said.
Another employee named Kakeru Nakamura, acknowledged the same thing. His parents asked him to get married quickly, but he admitted that he was too busy working.
Japan's National Fertility Survey states that the number of virgins in Japan is increasing, where 1 in 10 Japanese men in their 30s are still virgins.
"A large proportion of individuals are unable to find a partner," said Peter Ueda, a researcher from Tokyo University. He warned that the rise in the number of virgins in Japan was the highest among high-income countries.
Japan is also under threat as a country, as it is estimated that its population could drop by half in half a century if such trends cannot be stopped.
The decline in sex and birth rates is due to several factors such as economic factors, long working hours, too much going online or playing games, and the growing popularity of virtual partners.
