SKMM : By 2025, Average Mobile Broadband Speed Targeted to Reach 100Mbps

Under JENDELA, the government is ready to target a number of things to ensure Malaysia achieves 100% internet coverage in populated areas.

Most recently, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission once again emphasized the matter, and said that by the end of 2025, JENDELA aims to expand Fixed line broadband Gigabit access to 9 million premises, and cover 100% of populated areas.

This will ensure that everyone receives access to the internet, parallel to the development of the digital economy arena.

In addition to that, the government also through JENDELA aims for the average rate of mobile broadband speed to reach 100Mbps by the end of 2025. This may be parallel to the development of 5G networks and others.

Also in the 2023 Budget, the government accelerated the development of 5G coverage, and aimed for it to reach 80% of populated areas by the end of 2023.
