The Government Is Discussing With Proton And Perodua To Accelerate The Production Of Electric Cars (EV)

The Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) is currently in the process of discussing with local car manufacturers, namely Proton and Perodua - in an effort to accelerate the production of national electric cars.

With this move, it will simultaneously allow affordable electric vehicles to be offered to consumers - compared to today's relatively high prices.

Proton's and Perodua's offers are expected to be more competitive in terms of price, besides it will also increase the rate of adaptation and use of electric cars in the market.

The government previously aimed for around 15% electric vehicles on the road by 2030. By accelerating the supply of national electric cars at competitive prices, it is expected to increase the rate of use – in addition to increasing the provision of electric charging stations.
