The viral moment of the statue of Jesus Christ in Brazil was struck by lightning


 There was a viral moment when a giant statue of Jesus in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, was struck by lightning. A photographer managed to capture it and immediately got a response from netizens on social media.

The statue of Jesus as high as more than 30 meters was struck by lightning on Friday (10/2). It is Fernando Braga who shares these photos on his Instagram account @fsbragaphotos.


"Divine Lightning!!! Happening this Friday!!! Footage taken on February 10, 2023 at 6:55 PM (Christ) and 7:03 PM (Antenna) using a NIKON D800 with a 70-200mm f/2.8E at 70mm f/8 13" ISO 100, " Braga wrote in his upload statement.



Apparently, the incident of a giant statue of Jesus being struck by lightning is not the first time this has happened. Launching the NY Post, Wednesday (15/2/2023) this statue is struck by lightning 3-5 times a year.



The worst incident occurred in 2014 where the statue's right thumb had to be restored. There is no news yet about the condition of the statue after being struck by lightning again.


The statue of Jesus in Brazil was named one of the seven wonders of the world in 2007. This statue is made of 700 tons of reinforced concrete and was built in 1931. This statue is known as the national symbol for Brazil.
