TheLorry's Wheels Are Now Turning in Southeast Asia

TheLorry is one of the local companies that has been operating for several years, making it easy for users to make lorry rental bookings for various purposes – from house moving, furniture delivery, even for corporate purposes in logistics matters.

TheLorry was started last year in 2014, and at that time solved logistics problems, especially for moving houses. Starting with the simple use of readily available technology such as Google Forms, TheLorry managed to get its first 10 paying customers in less than 10 days. Since then, they have expanded their offerings to Singapore, Thailand, and even Indonesia.

In line with the development of the world that puts everything at the fingertips, TheLorry continues to make it easier for users to book a lorry rental for the same day, or for a later date through the web and also a dedicated application.

Sharing about TheLorry's development, Nadhir (TheLorry's founder) said that now almost 40% of the company's total income comes from Indonesia. In 2022 alone, the group of companies has managed to generate income amounting to RM65 million. This is achieved through over 13,000 delivery partners, in addition to around 200,000 individual customers. TheLorry also has a number of corporate partners, including brands such as Coca Cola, Lotus's, etc.

In terms of business, TheLorry is seen to focus on the delivery of large-sized goods, in addition to bulk. This at the same time allows them to operate in a category with fewer competitors and alternatives – compared to small goods delivery services that are a battleground between companies such as Pos Laju, J&T, Ninja Van and so on.

Nadhir himself stated that they are looking at three big trends for the next 5 to 10 years, which include e-commerce trends, the delivery of large-sized goods, and also the development of the company in Indonesia.

In addition, several developments are also expected to further diversify their income, including expanding existing products in the form of SaaS, developing products to increase driver productivity (using a number of algorithms and also machine learning), in addition to improving product offerings and operations.

Parallel to that, now TheLorry uses the same cost concept in gathering the next investment fund, through the Pitchin platform. This simultaneously opens the room for everyone to invest and have a stake in this local startup company. So far, TheLorry has collected around RM2.3 million through Pitchin, and this fundraising will end next week.
