TNG Will Increase Issuance of NFC Cards, Advocacy Related to VISA Card Functions – But KPDN Feels It's Still Not Enough

Touch n Go had previously been asked to provide feedback regarding a number of matters raised by the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN), and now it is seen that TNG has provided some immediate improvements in relation to it.

Among them are:

a) TnG card shortage issue – TnG company has increased the number of cards up to 3.5 million in 2023 compared to 2.68 million cards in 2022;

b) Issues related to card expiry notifications – TnG companies have taken action by sending proactive/pre-expiration reminders to TnG users including notification emails

also sent a month before the card expires. Notifications through the e-wallet application and date checks have also been printed on the back of the card;

c) Issue of return and refund of card balance – TnG will examine and implement the refund process with immediate effect to the user after the concession company conducts investigation, verification and approval.

d) Advocacy related to the TnG Visa Card function - the TnG company has made improvements in communication and clarification of the use of the TnG visa card to avoid confusion by displaying the notification "This is Not TnG Card" before the application is made by the user; and

e) Removal of unregistered card sales advertisements - TnG company has taken immediate action by sending an official notice to the e-commerce platform to remove all unregistered TnG product sales advertisements. Official notices have also been sent to oil company operators, retailers and authorized distributors to ensure they follow the set price including the sale control of 1 card for each customer.

However, the government believes that the initiative taken by TNG is still not enough. The government will hold an additional engagement session with TNG to focus on the action plan and some other consequential matters.
