WhatsApp Loses, Telegram's New Feature Can Translate Chat Contents

Telegram released its first update for 2023 and the messaging app immediately brought a slew of new features. One of them is the feature to translate all chat, group and channel contents in real time.

With this new feature, if a Telegram user receives a message in another language they will see a 'Translate' button at the top of the chat. Just tap the button to translate the message content in real time.

Telegram also provides a menu button near the Translate bar which allows users to hide the bar and control what languages are translated.

Unfortunately, this new translation feature is only available for Telegram Premium subscribers. Users who don't subscribe to Premium can still access this feature, but can only translate chats one by one, not all at once.

Another new feature, Telegram added the option to apply stickers and emoji to profile photos. This option doesn't just apply to your own profile photo, as you can also set or suggest a profile photo emoji or sticker for other contacts. This feature is available to all Telegram users.

Still around stickers and emoji, Telegram has also added 10 new custom emoji collections and a line of new interactive emoji. This application made by Pavel Durov also classifies emoji and stickers into certain categories to make them easier to find, as quoted from Engadget, Tuesday (7/2/2023).

Several other features were also launched to improve quality-of-life. Includes new pie charts to view mobile and Wi-Fi data usage, auto-set up media storage, easier logins with Apple or Google IDs, and much more.

Telegram is also launching an annual Premium subscription package that costs less. Users can save up to 40% by purchasing an annual plan instead of a monthly plan.
