When Nokia CEO Predicts 'Smartphone Doomsday' in 2030

The 'smartphone apocalypse' is predicted to occur in 2030, or about 7 years from now. This is not a fad prediction, but a prediction that was put forward by the CEO of Nokia, Pekka Lundmark.

Some time ago, Lundmark said that smartphones might not be relevant anymore in 2030. Speaking at the World Economic Forum last year, he said 6G connections would come in late 2030 but at the same time, could make smartphones obsolete.

Quoted by us from India Today, as seen Wednesday (22/2/2023) this is because users may not access the 6G network on smartphones. According to him, several devices will be made for 6G connections that are directly used on the human body.

"At that time, the smartphones as we know them today will not be the most common interface. Many of them will be built right into our bodies," said Lundmark.

Although he did not specifically mention what kind of devices would eventually replace smartphones in human life, he gave an example of gadgets such as smart glasses and devices that can be worn on the face that might be preferred in the future so that there is a smartphone apocalypse.

Of course, many do not believe in this prediction considering that smartphones have become an integral part of today's modern humans. However, considering the rapid development of technology, it is not impossible that the prediction of the CEO of Nokia will come true.

Moreover, companies like Neuralink founded by Elon Musk, for example, are trying chip technology that can be installed into the human brain to control gadgets remotely. "Our mission is to create a brain machine interface that is wireless and fully securely installable," says Neuralink.

So is there really going to be a smartphone apocalypse? Let's wait and see.
