BNPL or "Buy Now Pay Later", or "Bayar Nanti, Pakai Lekas", has now become one of the trends of many sellers in making it easier for consumers to buy high-priced goods. In addition to electronic goods, various sellers also integrate it including food and clothing sellers.
This trend also leads to high debt levels, which is worrying. The government itself has stated that it will introduce legislation to regulate this BNPL service.
Most recently, Mufti WP also answered regarding this BNPL law from the point of view of Islam.
Responding to it, Mufti WP said it is necessary and valid, as long as it fulfills the conditions set by syariah. This includes that it must be built on a sale and purchase agreement and not a loan agreement, there is no two sales and purchases in one agreement, the agreement is clear from the point of view of the goods, the price value and the delay period. The agreement was also agreed at the beginning of the purchase.
