The most popular app during the pandemic is Zoom with millions of users relying on it to conduct meetings and attend classes online. With the pandemic being forgotten and many returning to work in the office, the use of Zoom is decreasing. So it's no surprise when Zoom announced they would cut up to 1300 jobs this year.
Although in terms of numbers it is not as large as the workforce reductions of Google and Microsoft , it is around 15% of their total workforce. Zoom tripled its workforce during the pandemic to meet customer needs. So with the application no longer being used frequently, a reduction in manpower has to be done.
