The workforce reduction process by Amazon is not over yet. In a note sent to employees, Amazon CEO Andy Jassy said the company would lay off another 9,000 workers in the coming weeks. Affected employees are those working at AWS, PXT, advertising, and Twitch.

The second wave of layoffs was carried out after a more complete assessment of all aspects of the company's operations. All major tech companies are making workforce reductions following the post-pandemic drop in demand. This is despite the fact that companies such as Amazon are among the few that have posted profits due to increased online purchases during the pandemic.
