Spotify Premium subscribers can only listen with envy to Apple Music users who can enjoy audio streaming at lossless quality. Loyal Spotify fans are still looking forward to when Spotify HiFi, which was announced two years ago, will be launched. But now according to The Verge, Spotify HiFi was actually ready to launch but had to be delayed due to Apple's actions. This was confirmed by Spotify co-president Gustav Söderström.
Apple Music is offered with lossless audio without customers having to pay more. Because of what Apple did, the launch of Spotify HiFi was delayed because Spotify wanted to offer it at a higher subscription price than the regular Premium.
Despite the delay, Söderström said Spotify HiFi is still in the company's plans but the new date it will be launched is still unclear. Initially it was supposed to launch at the end of 2021. As the world's number one music streaming platform, higher audio offerings are necessary. The question is how much are consumers willing to pay to enjoy audio as good as Apple Music, Tidal and Amazon Music?
