What are Apple's future plans? More sophisticated iPhones, more powerful MacBooks or the best AR headset on the market? A short-term answer to this question may be to produce quality films that are then shown in theaters for a longer period.
This is according to a report from Bloomberg where Apple is said to spend up to $1 billion this year to produce blockbuster movies. Among the plans are Martin Scorsese's Killers of the Flower Moon with Leonardo DiCaprio and Ridley Scott's epic Napoleon.
Apple's strategy this time is different as the film will be shown in thousands of cinemas first to make a profit before then being offered through Apple TV+. This is a plan that has proven profitable for Disney, Warner Brothers, Sony Pictures and Paramount over the years. Previously, their films were shown in cinemas on a small and short scale just to qualify them to be nominated for awards such as Oscars and Golden Globes.
