In May last year AWS was reported to be committed to investing in Malaysia and at the AWS Cloud Day Malaysia event, they announced their plans to invest USD 6 Billion (~RM 25.5 Billion) to develop various things, and not just limited to the development of data centers only
First, AWS will open an 'AWS Region' for Malaysia, and will facilitate local startups for all matters related to infrastructure, such as data centers, security and various AWS services. In fact, it will also consist of '3 Availability Zones' as well as guarantee continuous service for AWS customers in Malaysia.
And when the AWS Region is special for users in Malaysia, apart from the lower latency (low latency), corporate users including government agencies can store data with more security, including if it is necessary to comply with data sovereignty (data sovereignty) which is usually one of conditions in ensuring that user data is protected.
Until now there are various startups and also large companies that use AWS services including Carsome, Astro, Storehub and many more including AWS collaboration with local developers. With the planning commitment of RM 25.5 Billion that will be invested by AWS for the Malaysian market, surely startups and internet technology progress in Malaysia can be further intensified.
