Axiom Space Showcases Prototype Suit To Be Used In Artemis III Mission To The Moon

The Artemis III spacecraft is expected to become the second spacecraft after Apollo 13 to land on the moon with an astronaut crew in 2025. Apart from the spacecraft that comes with a number of new features to facilitate the flight.

Recently, Axiom Space, NASA's partner in the project, has just shown a prototype of the space suit that will be used by the astronauts when they set foot on the moon later.

Named the Axiom Extravehicular Mobility Unit (AxEMU), the suit is a prototype for a suit that will be used on the moon, which will give astronauts the ability to move around the lunar surface more efficiently and comfortably.

The prototype suit shown is black, but according to Axiom, it will be changed to white for the flight to the moon because the white suit is needed to reflect light and heat radiation and protect the astronauts from high temperatures.

Axiom is seen to be still developing this suit to ensure that it will be comfortable for astronauts to use for this Artemis III project, and it is expected that the final design will be shown closer to the launch date of the spacecraft to the moon.
