Taking into account developments in the United States, including rumors that the TikTok application may be banned in the country, Bytedance is now looking at several alternatives, including completely isolating TikTok.
This separation may be done by selling TikTok, or offering it in the form of an IPO, as well as several other methods.
It is said that Bytedance will look at this option if the US government does not agree to Bytedance's other offer.
Previously, several times it has been raised regarding the security and safety of user data of the platform, considering that it originates from China. However, Bytedance and TikTok themselves have denied the matter of sharing data with the Chinese government, and say that all user data is safe under them.
TikTok itself has stated that it has spent billions of ringgit in ensuring user data is safe, including denying accusations that data is used for espionage and other purposes.
