Since its release to the public at the end of last year, ChatGPT has become popular because it is considered an amazing artificial intelligence program. This phenomenon even made the creators confused themselves and did not understand what was happening.
"This (phenomenon) is honestly quite extraordinary. I want to understand better what triggered all of this, what drove it to go viral," said Jan Lieke, an expert at OpenAI, the company that gave birth to ChatGPT.
"To be honest, we don't understand. We don't know about that," he added, as quoted by us from Futurism, Tuesday (7/3/2023).
Similar statements were also made by other OpenAI frontmen. "I did expect it to gain followers, but I didn't think (ChatGPT) would reach this level of mainstream popularity," said OpenAI co-founder John Schulman.
"We were really surprised at how well received it was. We worked so much on the model, so we forgot that it would be a shock to the outside world," said Liam Fedus, AI researcher at OpenAI.
Previously, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said that ChatGPT was actually not optimal as a product. He considered that ChatGPT still has many shortcomings, from the simple design to the frequent error messages that appear to reduce comfort.
"ChatGPT is a bad product. It's not really designed to be used," he said as quoted by Business Today.
Even though they are able to write good and coherent answers, sometimes the information presented by ChatGPT is still not quite right. The experience of using it is also inconsistent. "People use the site that sometimes it works well and sometimes it's down," Altman said.
