China Will Begin 6G Tests As Early as 2025

The commercial 5G network was only introduced in Malaysia last year and the area coverage is still low when compared to 4G. The offer is also expanding although there are some telcos who have not yet given it to customers. It is still in its infancy but China is already planning to introduce 6G technology as early as 2025.

Tests of some 6G deployments will begin later that year by China Unicom. This is to see how this latest cellular technology can be used by the industry and the public. Although testing has started early, the widespread introduction of commercial 6G networks in China will only take place in 2030.

20230 is still a long way off but South Korea is ahead with plans to launch 6G as early as 2028. South Korea and China currently hold the most 6G technology patents in the world. In the case of South Korea, technological progress is enhanced to give an advantage to the country that was also the first to introduce the world's commercial 5G network in 2019.
