FBI Boss: Corona Virus Likely Leaked from China Lab

The origin of the Corona Covid-19 virus has been hotly discussed again after several United States officials spoke out. FBI Director Christopher Wray believes that Covid-19 most likely leaked from a laboratory controlled by the Chinese Government.

"The FBI has for some time now assessed that the origin of the pandemic was most likely a laboratory incident," he said.

This is the first public confirmation of the FBI's classified assessment of how the coronavirus pandemic came to be. "China has done its best to frustrate and obfuscate efforts to identify the global source of the pandemic. And that is unfortunate," Wray said.

As before, China has denied there was a laboratory leak in Wuhan, calling the allegations slanderous. The laboratory, called the Wuhan Institute of Virology, has long been the target of suspicion.

"Certain parties must stop repeating the 'lab leak' narrative, stop smearing China and stop politicizing the tracing issue," said foreign ministry spokesman Mao Ning.

The FBI Director's comments came moments after the US Ambassador to China asked China to be more honest about the origin of the Corona virus. However, in fact, there is no absolute agreement from the US regarding the start of the Corona pandemic.

On the other hand, the US Department of Energy has judged with "low confidence" that Covid leaked from the lab. Then, White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said US President Joe Biden supports a thorough effort to find out how Covid started.

But he added that the US still had no clear consensus on what happened. "We're not there yet. If we have something ready to share with the American people and Congress, we will," he said.
