Flying Taxi Flight Record Now Held By Autoflight

In 2023 there are still efforts to make flying taxi services a reality in the world's major cities. Efforts from Uber, Joby, EHang and Volocopter have so far proved it can be done. Recently Autoflight announced the success of their flying taxi Prosperity I recorded a distance of 250.64 km on a single charge making it the longest distance recorded by an electric flying taxi.

It surpassed the world record held by Joby of 249 km which was set in 2021. Prosperity was able to carry up to four passengers but when the record was set it was not carrying any passengers. Like the majority of modern flying taxis, the Prosperty I uses a combination of propellers for vertical flight before using conventional wings for horizontal flight.

The ability to fly up to 250 km allows passengers to fly from Kuala Lumpur to Malacca City, Seremban, Ipoh, Kuantan, Taiping, Muar and Batu Pahat on a single charge.

In Malaysia Volocopter, Malaysia Airports and Skyports have signed an agreement to study the construction of an airport taxi with Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang as the country's first hub. Meanwhile, Singapore wants to start offering electric flying taxi services as early as 2024.
