DALL.E 2 and Midjourney's artificial intelligence has the ability to quickly produce drawings based on text input entered by the user. From the beginning of its introduction, this AI received criticism from artists who saw it as simply stealing intellectual property because it was trained to use the work of human artists without permission.
Artists can now rise up against AI rather than continue to steal their artwork. The University of Boston has published the Glaze Project which makes artwork impossible to use to train AI. Glaze Project puts a digital "shroud" that cannot be seen by the human eye. But when this image is tried to be seen by the AI, the system will not be able to see it.
If an AI tries to generate an image based on this image, the resulting work just appears as a blob of different colors than the original artist's work. Currently the University of Boston provides the Glaze Project for free with no plans to commercialize it. Artists who want to protect their online intellectual property can download Glaze Project .
