Google launched Bard a few weeks ago to compete with ChatGPT. So far Bard's performance has been less than satisfactory with several times providing inaccurate information. The Information reports that to bridge the gap between Bard and ChatGPT, Google is using ChatGPT data to train their artificial intelligence (AI).
Under a new initiative called Gemini, Google is forcing the Deepmind and Google Brain teams to work together to defeat OpenAI. Based on internal information, Google allegedly used ChatGPT data to train without permission. In a response to The Verge, Google denied this claim. But previously they admitted Bard plagiarized content from the website.
The AI wars have begun with OpenAI at the forefront with their ChatGPT and GPT-4 offerings aided by Microsoft hardware. Google is certainly under pressure because they have been seen as an AI innovation company by popularizing its use of camera technology and Assistant that can make phone calls on behalf of users.
As the war heats up, Elon Musk and Steve Wozniak signed an open letter calling for training on AI to be delayed for six months to assess its impact on human civilization.
