Google Doodle Celebrates International Women's Day 2023

March 8 every year is celebrated as International Women's Day. This year Google is joining in on the celebration by displaying a special Doodle and the festivities on its search page.

Today's Google Doodle features a number of women with various professions who support each other to progress and improve each other's quality of life. Once clicked, an animation of confetti and a hand carrying a purple flag appears across the search results.

"Women in positions of influence who advocate for progress across issues central to the lives of women everywhere. Women who come together to explore, learn, and fight for their rights. Women who are primary caretakers for people from all walks of life. Women who are important support systems for each other in motherhood," explained Google on its official website.

Doodle for International Women's Day 2023 created by Alyssa Winans. For her, International Women's Day has its own meaning.

"Our theme this year is 'women supporting women', so I can spend a lot of time reflecting on all the ways I have been supported by the other women in my life. I am the youngest of three children, so from birth I have always benefited from wisdom and support. of those who came before me! I am grateful for that and for all the ways I see the women in my life standing up for each other and their values," said Winans.

He further revealed that the illustrations he made only briefly described his life experiences.

"Only tangentially! One lifetime I certainly couldn't capture the whole of what it is to be a woman. One thing I do think is that quite a few people around me in recent years have had children, and are starting to talk about how complicated it is to navigate breastfeeding. ?Formula? In public? Workplace? So I wanted to use one of the letters to two women feeding their children on the porch as a nod to that experience.

Winans hopes that the illustrations for International Women's Day in Google Doodle can strengthen women's bonds.

"I know full experience of what it means to be a woman of course not everything can be captured in one image so I hope this is just a starting point to reflect on how broad, complex, nuanced and powerful the idea of womanhood really is," she concluded.
