Do you remember the Hipstamatic app? It is an Instagram-like social media application that allows users to share photos and follow friends. But what sets it apart from IG is that Hipstamatic focuses on filters and retro special effects for all photos.
I used Hipstmatic during my school days on a Lumia device. This application is popular enough to be one of the first applications to receive Apple's "App of the Year" award under Steve Jobs.
After the success of this application they present Hisptamatic X which focuses on analog picture features. The app was recently relaunched as Hipstamatic (the original app became Hipstamatic Classic) to be a competitor to Instagram.
The new Hipstamatic will display photos chronologically, will not offer live video, will not have additional features like Reels, will have no ads and will focus on community building.
This platform will also not have the concept of social media influencers because each account has a limit to follow and be followed by only 99 users. 200 retro lenses will also be included for users to share their own vintage photos.
Hipstamatic is also no longer free to use because there is a subscription of RM19.90 per month or RM99.90 per year to enjoy all the features and functions they offer.
