HTC is ready to sell part of their smartphone development team to Google, and is now focusing more on the development of mixed-reality products, including headsets and their own virtual world called HTC Viveverse.
Most recently, the HTC CEO took aim at which Apple might introduce its own mixed-reality headset offering this year. HTC aims for Apple to prioritize headsets first, before focusing on smart glasses.
Touching on it through a brief interview, the HTC CEO stated that they are not afraid of Apple's participation in this arena.
HTC aims that with more people joining this arena, including Apple, Meta and Samsung, it will increase the demand rate for mixed-reality sets, and may benefit HTC.
HTC also thinks that their steps in the technology arena are often one step ahead of other competitors. Previously, in 2019, HTC was ready to bring in their mixed-reality set offering, but the price was quite high at that time, which was around RM3699.
