In France Influencers Must Publish Photos Using Filters To Avoid Scams

Social media influencers are the main choice of brands to advertise their latest products due to lower costs, and direct contact with the target audience. But like regular advertising, advertising using influencers is also problematic with paid content sometimes not being disclosed. In France there are many laws used to protect consumers and the new law that wants to be passed will have an impact on influencers.

French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire announced last week that influencers will have to declare if their photos or videos have been manipulated using filters. Also to be banned in the future is advertising and sponsorship by cosmetic surgery companies on influencers.

Actions should be taken to avoid negative effects on the psychology of people who follow influencers' accounts. If this bill passes the French National Assembly, it will be the first European country to introduce a framework to regulate influencers.
