Instagram App Will Support GIFs In Comment Section

Meta will continue to ensure that Instagram continues to be a place for content creators to share images and not just videos as it is now. At the same time, the application will also be continuously updated for the best user experience.

Previously they announced Channels, which is a special tab on DM for content creators or eligible users to post non-repliable but interactive messages to announce something. This feature allows followers to react, vote and many times.

Adam Mosseri as the head of Instagram shared many announcements through Channels. Recently he informed that the comment section of Instagram will soon support the sending of GIFs like on Facebook. Meaning users can start or reply to comments with GIFs, making a post more lively.

For now, testing is only done to selected users. I am using the alpha version on an Android device and can't use it anymore. Those eligible to use this feature will see the GIF logo in the comments section and cannot use the custom GIF built into the user's keyboard.
