LHDN Reminds Social Media Influencers Not to Pay Income Tax

The Inland Revenue Board is now reminding social media influencers, or "influencers" not to be careless in paying income tax.

In parallel with the voluntary declaration program that will be held starting June 1, 2023, which provides amnesty on 100% penalty for unpaid direct and indirect taxes – social media influencers are also asked to come forward and take this opportunity.

The IRB also said that the income of social media influencers, including "influencers" and "TikTokers" can be assessed according to the number of followers in addition to viewing content uploaded online.

Previously, this 100% penalty amnesty program was announced at the last Budget 2023 presentation.
