MEASAT, the national satellite management company behind the CONNECTMe NOW satellite internet service has announced that they have chosen Hughes JUPITER's VSAT (Very Small Aperture Terminal) system to facilitate connecting internet services to rural and rural areas in Malaysia.
The Hughes JUPITER VSAT system is capable of providing internet connections as fast as 100Mbps and comes with support for offering mobile internet connections such as WiFi, 4G and 5G, cellular calls for communities without internet connectivity.
Apart from that, the Hughes JUPITER system is also a low-cost system that has already been used by satellite internet connection providers in other countries such as Indonesia, the Philippines, Egypt and so on.
This is in line with the launch of the MEASAT-3d satellite in June 2022 which directly upgrades the local satellite internet connection from 3Gbps to 30Gbps and enables CONNECTMe NOW to offer internet connections as fast as 100Mbps to the area.
This system is expected to be fully implemented by MEASAT within this three-year period, and will connect as many as 2 million Malaysians to the internet network.
