Samsung Will Spend Over RM1 Trillion To Make Korea The World's Largest Chip Production Center

The superpower of chip production technology at this time is Taiwan through TSMC. TSMC's chip production technology is the choice of companies such as Apple and Qualcomm, causing Samsung Foundry to have problems finding customers. Despite facing this issue, Samsung Electronics will spend 300 trillion Won (~RM1 trillion) to make South Korea the world's chip production center.

This is part of the 500 trillion Won to be invested by South Korea's private sector to realize the big dream of making their country a chip-making superpower. Through this plan, South Korea wants to become the world's chip production center by 2042.

Samsung Electronics will open up to five chip factories. The government is committed to offering 25 trillion won in funds over a five-year period with up to 100 billion to be spent this year to build electricity and water power infrastructure to support the chip development sector.

This can be seen as South Korea's answer to the CHIPS Act announced by the United States which also wants to make their country back as a major chip production power.
