The Sony PlayStation VR2 went on sale a few weeks ago and average reviews say it's a solid VR headset. The visuals displayed on the OLED screen are of high resolution so that objects appear alive, aided by several game options that support VR mode well. But according to Bloomberg, PSVR2 sales so far have been disappointing.
Only around 270,000 PSVR2s are predicted to be sold by the end of this month. It was a far cry from Sony's original target of selling 2 million units in the same period. Sony also hopes that the PSVR2 will sell more than 5 million units in its lifetime to overtake the sales of the original PSVR.
Due to the current disappointing sales numbers, it is highly likely that Sony will cut prices in the near future. Among the factors why sales are low is that the price is too expensive (RM 2799) compared to the Bluray drive version of the PS5 console (RM2499).
