Spotify today announced a new interface for their main app on Android and iOS platforms. Through this new "home" page, the process of finding the latest songs, podcasts and audiobooks is simplified with a short audio preview feature while the content is scrolling.
Based on the shared interface, it is clear that Spotify borrows many elements from the TikTok and Instagram applications because the previu comes with short videos and animations that are expected to attract users to listen to the content in full.
In addition to a more interactive interface, Spotify also introduced Smart Shuffle which plays songs that users may like based on a personal playlist. The Autoplay feature is also supported on podcasts with episodes compatible with previously listened ones playing automatically.
The new interface is also more in line with the previously announced artificial intelligence DJ feature. Unfortunately, DJ is still limited to users in the United States and Canada at this time. All of the features announced today will roll out to all Spotify Premium subscribers in stages.
