Together, the partnership said five highways will implement open payment support - including the use of debit and credit cards by September 2023, now the Minister of Public Works also shared about the toll system without bars.
The toll system without bars or also known as MLFF (Multi Lane Fast Flow) will allow users to move without stopping, at the same time reducing congestion at the toll plaza. This will make users have to link their accounts using digital wallets, and balance deductions will be done automatically through it.
The government is expected to conduct a concept test for it before October 2023, in evaluating the system before implementing it on all highways in Malaysia. For now, the location of this concept test is still in the negotiation stage.
It was also shared that the full implementation of this MLFF will be done in phases by the third quarter of 2024 at the latest.
Because of that too, now the government is pushing to implement an open payment system at the toll plaza, in order to simplify the payment process. Later, the government is also expected to open space for other digital wallet providers to support this payment system, so that it is no longer monopolized by Touch n Go.
