Last year the world's population finally reached 8 billion. The handling of the pandemic has not succeeded in stopping the increase in the population of the earth which is increasingly running out of resources. One of the most important resources for survival is water and like other resources access to it is becoming a luxury for some of the earth's people.
According to a UNESCO report in conjunction with World Water Day yesterday, 26% of the world's population or around 2 billion do not have access to a clean water supply. Meanwhile, 46% of the world's population also do not have access to a safely managed sanitation system.
Sustainable Development Goal 6 (SDG 6) is recommended to ensure the availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation by 2030. Unfortunately, at this time, progress towards the SDG6 target is at a lower rate than it should be. In some situations it needs to be quadrupled to ensure the target is met.
