Xbox Series X/S Sold 18.5 Million Units, but Still Lose to PS5

Secretly trying to overtake its competitors, Microsoft has sold the Xbox Series X/S of more than 10 million units. But, this was still losing to Sony's PS5.

Reporting from The Gamers on Thursday (2/3/2023) this data was revealed by Piers Harding-Rolls from Ampere Analysis. He estimated that 18.5 million Xbox's latest generation console had aired on gamers at the end of last year.

This amount does not come directly from Microsoft. This is considering, they tend not to release sales figures, except to achieve something that is so important.

Unfortunately the purchasing power of this console will be a little stalled, aka difficult to increase. Harding-Rolls noted that in the meantime, Xbox Series X sales were held back due to lack of stock that was happening.

But when referring to his brother Xbox Series S, Microsoft is able to increase sales. It is known that the console stock is more widely available than the X series.

Now it's different from the console of having Sony, which later claims it is much easier to find. Departing from this explanation, Harding-Rolls estimates that the sales gap between PS5 and Xbox Series X/S will increase in the first half of 2023.

If you look in the mirror at the announcement of early February, Sony has sold 32.1 million PS5 units since the launch. Their target is currently selling 37 units at the end of the fiscal year, which ended in March 2023.

Although Xbox is left behind by Playstation, the growth of the game pass should be taken into account. Ampere Analysis reported, the number of customers reached the highest point of all time during the last three months of 2022.

Microsoft even claims that this video game giant has 30% global market share. The percentage was completed with the existence of Playstation which controlled 70% of the market, without taking into account Nintendo's presence.

Even though most of the eyes are now fixed on the Nintendo Switch. The mobile console has shown his might, after announcing his sales that surpassed PS4 and Game Boy.
